All About Computers

Hardware is a general term used by firstly builders when describing their building materials mostly made of steel. Secondly it can only be used to describe kitchen utensils and thirdly which we want to look at is the computer hardware which is used in its day to day running. A computer’s operating system includes many different types of wares (soft or hard) as we might wish to call them. A computer’s hardware is contained mostly in a case covering. Most of the operations taking root from the mother-board. The rest parts of a computer are just for enabling efficient use of the system.

Most parts of computers software are not visible to the eye. They are hidden in the casing. Hardware includes computer components like the Hard-disk, disk-drives, which include drives items like the CD, DVD or USB flash drives. Some of the components included Ram (memory) and the CPU or processor. As its name suggest most of the computer operations take place in the processor. Most of these are fixed. What we see in a computer is not really part of the big picture. What remains unseen is where all the operating systems take place through commands.

Another interesting way to describe computers hardware is to refer to them as the parts that are seen by the eye, are within touch and can be felt. A lot of computer’s data is forced in the hard-disk which is the computer’s storage component. Any thing stored in the hard-disk stays there even for years unless there is a virus attack or due to crush. Every information or data is literally stored in the hard disk. A complete computer unit includes the CPU, a monitor, a key board, a mouse and a printer (which is usually optional).

The noted computer hardware is the same over and over. A computer does not run only on software it has to run on both. Once a computer has been bought and come complete with the hardware components, it is imperative to install its software programs for it to run effectively otherwise it will be like a stature. With the advent of technology so has been an increase in computer use and tremendous increase in improved and efficient computer hardware components. A computer cannot operate without these components as they are what make a computer. These are the components where software runs in any computer use.

It would make a nice reading by giving readers an idea of what computer hardware include and their basic uses for a day to day running of a computer use. A part from the CPU, a computer must have a fan that helps in providing continuous flow of air to the computer while at the same time controls the levels of temperature. With a faulty fun a computer might heat and up and if not taken care of effectively might burn most of the components of the hardware that a computer runs on. A service maintenance for both hard and software to a computer is must quite often.

The noted hardware of any computer is the motherboard. Without this specific hardware computers cannot run. All the electric connections take place here and so does the circuitry functions. While still at the motherboard we should not forget that a computer cannot run without the power supply. All electric power supply must have a base to be able to run it effectively. This is what turns the AC power to low voltage, enough for a computer use. With the advent of technology a lot has been added in the list of components being used. A modem is now being used by most homes.

There are bit of hardware that a computer must have and must be in good and functioning order. These include a keyboard – a keyboard is used to enter data, or we can call in an input device. A computer only stores what we feed it. They are categorized as it can enter a letter, a number or a command as is required to enable effective input of data. Another noted component that has taken the world by storm in the first century is the webcam. Nothing has made conferencing easy that with the use of these digital cameras that are able to upload images and transmit to the server.

A monitor is a must have hardware component for all desktop computer users. This serves as a screen where information is visualized upon leaving the hard-disk and can be edited and saved. No desktop computer can run without the use of a monitor. Due to the increase in technology, they are not the big monitors that we use to see from time to time. They now boast of flat screen monitors that come in sizes and in the preference of the user. This is what we call technology at work. Laptops are now easy to carry and people can work even while waiting for a bus at a bus stop. What a tremendous way to improvement.

The mouse as its names suggest has been made in the form of a mouse. It is one of the hardware that enables users to click their way around as they look for information; it helps one select required information or data from the screen and is very effective in game playing. A printer gives out the final completed job by having it printed either in black or white or in color, depending on the preference. A computer also comes with storage devices that are not software, these include flash-drives, CD’s and Diskettes (even though these are not produced anymore) they are still in use in various parts of the world.

We must appreciate that the use of computer has made in the technology world as a whole. It does not matter whether it is the hardware or software components. We must appreciate that they have made work easy and very convenient compared to the days when were only inclined to use the manual typewriters, that took forever to produce data and was not easy to do corrections.
